Ray Lewis, LB
The Ravens say they will aggressively pursue Ray Lewis if he becomes a free agent in 2009. The team has tried working out a contract extension before the season, but that doesn't appear likely with training camp fast approaching. Usually, when both sides agree on the player's importance to the organization -- which is the case with Lewis -- it's easier to come to an agreement.
Terrell Suggs, LB
Baltimore gave Suggs a one-year franchise tag to retain its stud linebacker. It's obvious the Ravens want Suggs long term, but it's possible Lewis' contract status is affecting negotiations with Suggs and vice versa. So instead of breaking the bank for two Pro Bowl linebackers, the team is choosing to let it play out for now. But don't expect Baltimore to let this young Raven leave the nest.
